One of many visits to my good fellow Dutch friend Axel whose house and garden are simply amazing to enjoy every visit. During his forty years living here he has transformed his garden to represent the Indonesian gardens where he grew up. Inside his house the walls and rooms are filled with a collector’s items representing a distinctly maritime flavour as well as clocks, jars, porcelains and many other fine items creating in the process a home museum and a library filled with amazing books. Upstairs Axel has a magnificent German style HO scale train layout which we often enjoy together.

Ralphstrains.com has done it again. I have improved on my old military ho scale model train. This version has two lead engines, three mid train helpers and one pusher. It takes a lot of power to get 45 custom made army train cars up the hill. Enjoy and post comments if you like them please.

The spiral with Ho Scale with 243 cars 9 engines. The 15″radius at the top of the spiral was tough to overcome.
All radius curves from Bachman ez track to make this work.

All 9 engines that are used are old fictitious EMD Union Pacific Gp 18’s. Sold under the Bachmann name! Still has the little triangle on the bottom of the diesel tank. I would bet these are an upgraded version of the AHM. The AHM version only had two pick ups on each side of each truck. These have all four. Eight wheels of pickup. Plastic gears, Plastic trucks, Plastic frame, But Aluminum WHEELSETS… The Aluminum tarnishes over time and gives it a dull yellow cover. That is fine with me.
These engines are well over 30 years old.. And cheap. Very cheap.
To this day. Still have no problem with any of them. Just keep the wheels clean. And the gears lubed.
